I received my scale in the mail yesterday thanks Masse and decided to throw my clubs on there and see where everything was at.
Swingweight is a non-technical term. They used to sell a test counterweight that you could add to the butt end of your grip to see if counterweighting was right for you. A C7 swingweight doesn’t mean that the club is lighter than other clubs it just means that the ability to feel the clubhead will be less than say a E7 swing weight.
No matter where you put the tape, the actual weight of the club will be identical.
This thread is days old. Your fairway wood probably weighs in total about grams. Also, the RL 60g, adult flex swingweighg much better for me than the R.
Swingweight is a measure of how the weight feels swingeight you swing it. Even though I have played great golf with these irons, I have never really “felt” the heads, I just relied on my swing.

Despite the club weighing the same in terms of grams, the perception of weight based on swinging it will change dramatically. I discovered the lighter SW by accident, trying all the heads. So I have noticed the trend of tapering the swingweight. Like a little more weight in the head it helps feel the club through the short pitches.

I know a fitting is the answer, but being a tinkerer, i’m trying to get a good idea to do it myself. Different manufacturers have different methodologies but D4 or even higher isn’t unusual.

Never having heard the term he wanted to know what it was and how it affected his game. If you are getting professionally fit, I think swingweigut is important to have the fitter discuss with you the options, but I also think that most will not see too much difference.
